Past Presidents of  the Madison County Alumnae Chapter

Dr. Keila Brown

Immediate Past President: 2020-2024

Chapter of Initiation: Gamma Psi, Tougaloo College


Accomplishments: Commencing her tenure as president during a global pandemic, Dr. Brown guided the chapter through those uncertain times with fortitude and resilience. Chapter meetings, programs and activities were held virtually, including the chapter’s first virtual fundraiser, “A Weekend of Giving”, in conjunction with Uplift Incorporated.


The chapter expanded its community partnerships to provide service activities in each of the areas serviced within Madison County and to increase scholarship funds. During Soror Brown’s tenure, MCAC awarded over $150,000 in scholarships to high school seniors in Madison County and the seven Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) within the state of Mississippi. 


Soror Brown led the chapter through the Spring 2024 membership intake in which 76 initiates ("Torches of Tenacity") were welcomed to MCAC. This was the second line for the chapter following the inaugural line in 2017.

Dr. Jennifer M. Riley

Past President: 2016-2020

Chapter of Initiation: Nu Beta, Mississippi State University


Accomplishments: Soror Riley currently serves as the Mississippi State Coordinator. She is a certified DID trainer, MI trainer, served as a past co-chair of Delta Days at the State Capital, and was a member of the National Leadership Academy-Delta Professional Leadership Development Committee. She was also a member of the National Re-Imagine Membership Intake Task Force and created content for the sorority’s virtual membership intake process, which is still used today.


Under her administration, the chapter earned many awards, including the 2018 Large Chapter of the Year Award for the Southern Region and multiple Distinguished Service Awards in Economic Development, Educational Development, Political Awareness and Involvement, and Physical and Mental Health. Under her leadership, MCAC conducted its first membership intake process (27 initiates), increased scholarship awards to the community, and hosted its first International Awareness and Involvement program with an international chapter - Jamaica Alumnae Chapter in the Southwest Region. 


Katrina B. Myricks

Past President: 2012-2016

Chapter of Initiation: Kappa Pi, Delta State University

   

Accomplishments: Soror Katrina B. Myricks was recently elected as Southern Regional Member (2025) of the National Nominating Committee during the 49th Southern Regional Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee . 


Soror Myricks, who was initiated into Delta through the Kappa Pi Chapter at Delta State University in 1986, has served the sorority in several capacities. Her Delta vita includes: member of Southern Region’s Election Committee and of the SR Program Planning and Development Team. She currently serves MCAC as the Parliamentarian, and has served as Risk Management Chair, as well as, Chapter Vice President and President.

Daphne Monix Higgins

Chartering President: 2008 - 2012

Chapter of Initiation: Delta Pi, Jackson State University


Accomplishments: Soror Higgins played a pivotal role in the establishment and development of the Madison County (MS) Alumnae Chapter. As part of the interest group that dedicated several years to the chapter's formation, her leadership was instrumental in the chapter's chartering in 2008 and upon chartering, she was elected as the chapter’s first president.


She introduced a formal chapter structure aligned with Chapter Management guidelines, ensuring that the newly established chapter had a strong organizational foundation. Her contributions include creating the unique concept of "Sororbration," a celebration that embodies the spirit and unity of the chapter.
