On July 15, our Social Action committee collaborated with Madison County Circuit Clerk Anita Wray for a voter education ®gistration discussion at Summer Beau Ridge senior community in Ridgeland.
This impactful event reflects our continued commitment to social action. Through civic engagement and voter education, we help to empower our community to actively participate in the democratic process.
We appreciate Ms. Wray for sharing valuable information about voter registration, election procedures, and the importance of ensuring every eligible voter is registered and prepared for upcoming elections.
A special thank you to the seniors and community members who attended, asked thoughtful questions, and took steps to verify their voter registration. An informed community is an empowered community, and every vote matters!

Saturday morning, we hosted a Virtual Bloom Party with an amazing group of young ladies from the I Can Fly High School in Machakos County, Kenya. These bright, beautiful students were attentive, thoughtful in their questions, and incredibly sweet. What a joy to connect across the globe!
A special thank you to MCAC member Dr. Shelia Bouldin for delivering an outstanding, age-appropriate discussion on female body cycle awareness.

The Madison County (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, joins the world in honoring the life and legacy of Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., whose passing marks the loss of a towering figure in the struggle for social justice. From his early days working alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to the decades he spent carrying the movement forward after King’s death, Rev. Jackson devoted his life to pushing America toward its better self. He worked tirelessly to expand voting rights, economic opportunity, and equality, becoming a powerful and persistent voice in the ongoing fight for Civil Rights.
His presidential campaigns in the 1980s broke new ground, expanding who felt seen and included in national politics and reminding millions that they had both the right and the power to shape their own future. Through mantras like “Keep hope alive” and “I am somebody,” he affirmed the worth of those too often unheard and inspired generations to believe in their own dignity and possibility.
Reverend Jackson was not only a national leader, but also a friend and partner of Delta Sigma Theta. We were proud to recognize his extraordinary work and impact during our Centennial Founders Day Celebration in 2013, a moment that reflected the shared commitment between his life’s work and Delta’s legacy of social action.
Today, we honor his courage, his conviction, and the indelible imprint he leaves on our nation and on the communities we serve and represent. His life stands as a reminder that sustained advocacy, collective action, and unwavering faith can bend the arc of history toward justice.

What a powerful start to Mississippi Delta Days at the Capitol!
Day One set the tone as we gathered to receive our charge for the work ahead, delivered by Southern Regional Director Amaris L. Johnson—a message that grounded us in purpose, service, and the urgency of this moment.
We also participated in impactful advocacy training led by the SPLC, equipping us with the tools and strategies needed to effectively engage, educate, and advocate on behalf of our communities.
One of the highlights of the day was an insightful Fireside Chat with Scott Colom, thoughtfully moderated by Southern Region Social Action Chair Wakinya Clanton. The conversation was both empowering and informative, reinforcing the importance of civic engagement and collective action.
Our chapter was well represented, and the energy in the room made it clear—this is only the beginning.
Day Two: Advocacy in action at the Mississippi State Capitol tomorrow as we continue the fight for justice, equity, and progress.

Welcome to the official website for the Madison County (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. We are pleased that you have taken the time to visit our site, and hope that you become better acquainted with our chapter and the great service that we provide to our community.
Our chapter was chartered in 2008 in the Southern Region. For over 18 years, we have focused on supporting our service areas of Camden, Canton, Farmhaven, Flora, Gluckstadt, Madison, Ridgeland and Sharon by providing programs and events that empower and serve the needs of our community in alignment with the Sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:

Economic Development
Madison County (MS) Alumnae Chapter has provided award-winning programs in the area of Economic Development, coordinating services that range from clothing and shoe drives to workshops and business expos. The chapter has been awarded Distinguished Service Awards at the Regional level for our Financial Fortitude Programs centered on presenting workshops and access to resources for entrepreneurs interested in small business and/or non-profit development and for our projects to promote awareness and advocacy for fraud prevention.
Educational Development
Madison County (MS) Alumnae Chapter is dedicated to providing quality educational development programs for community youth. Programs including ACT workshops, college fairs, mentoring initiatives, and scholarships are provided each year to promote academic development, increase youth self-esteem, and provide increased access to cultural activities. The chapter provides volunteers for local youth programs and also provides financial support to high schoolers eligible for participation in dual-enrollment programs.
International Awareness & Involvement
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. holds the issues of the international community close to her heart. Chapters across the world simultaneously recognize and act upon the major concerns that plague countries around the globe such as the water crisis in Africa. The Madison County (MS) Alumnae Chapter hosts workshops to enlighten the public on what can be done to assist others around the planet. Our chapter has executed programs for the International Day of Service and World AIDS Day, and we provide outreach to the international community. Our programs have donated much needed supplies, clothing, and shoes that are provided to citizens beyond our US borders.
Physical and Mental Health
The local chapter is committed to improving the health and wellness of those we serve. We have instituted a number of internal and external activities that increase awareness across generations of the health issues and chronic diseases impacting Mississippi and the African American community and provide opportunities for members of our community to “get active” for healthier lifestyles. The chapter supports a number of organizational “walks” including Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and Diabetes Walks. Additionally, we support a number of partnering organizations, including the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society.
Social Action
The Madison County (MS) Alumnae Chapter can boast a membership with 100% registered voters. As voting residents, chapter members are active in various events throughout the year which include political awareness forums and rallies, voter registration drives, voting rights, candidate forums, information on election and political initiatives, census updates, civil rights issues, and providing resources for those in need. Many of our Political Awareness and Involvement activities are in collaboration with our Social Action initiatives. The chapter hosts a number of events, participates with other MS chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in Delta Days at the MS Capitol, and sends a representative to participate in Delta Days at the Nation’s Capital.
๏ปฟDelta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The sorority currently has 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, Canada, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica, West Africa, Southern Africa, United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Korea.
