Chapter History

Chartered  April 26, 2008

In 2004, a group of Delta women made a commitment to the people of the communities of Madison County in which they live and/or work. The commitment was to offer services to in-need women, children, and men as outlined in the Five Point Program Thrust of the national organization, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. That commitment became a reality when the Madison County (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on April 26, 2008. Madison County (MS) Alumnae Chapter became the 208th Chapter in the Southern Region. Fifty Delta women were inducted as charter members. The chapter has continued to grow through reclamation of Deltas in and around Madison County. At present, the chapter has over 250 financial members.

The chapter service area is Camden, Canton, Farmhaven, Flora, Gluckstadt, Madison, Ridgeland and Sharon. The services that have been provided since chartering the chapter include contributions/participation in: American Red Cross Relief Fund, Back to School Supply Drives, Delta Adopt A Family, Delta Fine Arts Academy, International Day of Service, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Candlelight Vigil, Minority Business Fair/Expo, Physical and Mental Health Fairs/Conferences, U.S. Census Awareness Day, World AIDS Day, Winter Benefit Gala and many more.
